St. John’s — After months of planning, crafting, and photography from St. John’s to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, the 2019 MerB’ys calendar is now available for pre-order. Hasan Hai, founder of the NLBMC, explains the calendar: “Our club embraces and values diversity in our community such as gender identity, ethnicity, body shape, and sexual orientation. Also, we delight in breaking down traditional gender stereotypes in creative ways. 2019 is Version 2.0: higher production value, more representation of people, and areas. More Mer, and more B’y”.
The charitable group chosen as the recipient of this years funding is Violence Prevention Newfoundland and Labrador, a coalition of Violence Prevention organizations across the province. Their project is titled ‘Deconstructing Masculinity – Engaging Men in Violence Prevention’. This project will challenge negative attitudes of masculinity and consequently empower men to become meaningfully engaged in violence prevention.
Photography for the 2019 MerB’ys spanned 7 days in July in locations across Newfoundland and Labrador. Calendars are now available for pre-order by visiting nlbmc.com, with international delivery available. Calendars will ship the week of Sept 24th, following a launch event at Quidi Vidi Brewery on Saturday Sept 22nd.
