Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia De Rossi recently took a weeklong trip to East Africa. While there, Ellen shared photos of gorillas in the mountains and baby elephants in an elephant orphanage. But, some are upset over a photo she tweeted of her standing with more than a dozen small children in a field. “Thank you to all of the amazing people I met on my trip, who helped make it so special,” she wrote. Many accused Ellen of engaging in “poverty porn” and questioned why she chose to share the image. “A trip to Africa is not complete without this trademark photo op,” one person tweeted. Another wrote, “You could have taken pics in rich neighborhoods. But no.” Meanwhile, one person asked, “Why do white people love to take this exact photo so much? Like they liiive to take this photo and it’s never not bizarre.”
Kanye West has teased a series of three “#ProjectWyoming” events this week after debuting his new album Ye at a real-life Wyoming ranch last Thursday. Meanwhile, he won’t be able to host another #ProjectWyoming event in the ranch where his listening party took place. Diamond Cross Ranch owner and operator Jane Golliher told The Blast on Monday she’s banning rappers from hosting parties there after calling Kanye’s bash the “most confusing” the venue has ever hosted.
